Japanese cuisine is famous for its emphasis on seasonality, quality of ingredients and presentation. Our Sushi and Japanese classes aim to teach simple cooking methods to combine authenticity with a contemporary style. There is so much more to Japanese cuisine than food. Just as the cooking itself is quite intricate, there are many rituals and codes of conduct that are followed during traditional Japanese mealtimes. Soy sauce for example, should never be poured directly onto rice or into soup.
Although our Chefs are happy to go through these with you if you would like to learn more about them, these rules are not enforced here at L’atelier des Chefs. From 30 minute Street Food classes to longer 2 hour sessions, there’s definitely a class to appeal to everyone. There is nothing quite as satisfying as eating sushi you have rolled yourself or munching a chicken katsu burger you have personally flattened, dressed and cooked from scratch. What’s more, with the advice, tips and tricks you pick up from our professional Chefs, there is no reason you won’t be able to recreate your favourites at home!
Once you’ve cooked up a storm, you’ll be able to sit down, relax and enjoy your Japanese feast at in our informal dining area. Chopsticks are provided and of course knives and forks will always be available for those of you who need a bit more practice!
