Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Cut the butter into small pieces and place in a bowl with the sugar, flour and ground almonds. Rub together with the tips of your fingers to make a crumble.
Peel the pears and remove the seeds. Cut in to large cubes or slices. Break the chocolate in to small pieces.
Grease a baking dish with butter. Place the chopped pear in to the dish and scatter over the chocolate. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the top and transfer to the oven. Cook for 20 minutes at 180°C.
