Brazilian style rice Recipe

Ingredients for people

  • Long grain rice : 400 g
  • Onion(s) : 1 whole
  • Garlic bulb(s) : 1 whole
  • Water : 600 ml

    Remove the pointy end of the onion, cut in half and peel. Dice finely.

    Remove the root end of the garlic cloves, peel and chop finely.

    Rince the rice until the water comes out clear. Drain, and set aside.

    In a medium sauce pan, add a drizzle of oil and sweat the onions until translucent, add the garlic and let it sweat for a minute more.

    Add the rinced rice, fry the rice for a minute. Add water.

    Once the water start boiling, add lid on top and simmer for 10 min. Turn off the heat and allow the rice to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Chef's tip

«To have flufy rice, allow the rice to rest 10 to 15 min before serving.»

This Brazilian style rice is considered plain rice in Brazil, but is full of flavor.
