Shirazi salad (cucumber and sumac salad) Recipe

Shirazi is a traditional salad from Iran made with cucumber and sumac spices.

Pour people
  • Cherry tomato(es) : 500 g
  • Cucumber(s) : 2 whole
  • Red onion(s) : 1 whole
  • Lemon(s) : 1 whole
  • Olive oil : 5 Tbsp
  • Dill : 1 bunch
  • Fresh mint : 1 bunch
  • Sumac spice : 1 tbsp
  • Maldon salt : 5 pinch(es)
  • Freshly ground black pepper : 5 Turn



    Cut the cherry tomatoes in half.

    Peel and slice the red onion.

    Cut the cucumber in half, remove the seeds with a spoon and cut into fine slices.

    Zest and juice the lemon.

    Pick the mint leafs and finely chop.

    Finely chop the dill keeping the stalk in.

    In a mixing bowl add all the ingredients with the sumac, salt, pepper and olive oil. Mix until all the ingredient are well combined.

  • 2. TO SERVE

    Put the Shirazi salad in a fridge for 30 minutes before serving.

«If your are a spice lover you can chop some red chilli into the mix for extra heat. »
